Our In-Person Retreat Gathering

Intends to provide you with an in-person experience where you can fully immerse yourself in the retreat where you can rest and be refreshed. Our desire is to create a safe, welcoming space for you.

Included when you register will be your . . .

Room and Board

Your Guest House room is equipped with bedding, a private bathroom, and scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Rooms are double occupancy.

Meals

Your meals are included. Special dietary needs are upon request. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks to enjoy throughout the weekend.

Materials

You can expect some great things in your goodie bag when you arrive and check-in that is sure to make you smile. I mean who doesn't love free stuff right?

Retreat Sessions

You can guarantee that the sessions will be amazing. Plan on doing some deep work while also have fun in the process. Some Indigenous healing practices will be used.

About The Retreat Sessions . . .

The Throughout the retreat, you'll have opportunities to participate in sessions designed to empower and inspire you. The intention is to provide you with an in-person experience where you can fully immerse yourself in our time together so you can rest and be refreshed. Our desire is to create a safe, welcoming space for you.

The sessions are centered in biblical wisdom with the engagement of Indigenous healing practices. As a heads up, we will use natural scents to fragrance the room and various anointing oils throughout the workshop. The scents will be in the room, and the anointing oil you are free to refuse.

You will receive more detailed information about the retreat when we get closer our commencement time.

Accommodations

The serene Guest House is designed to provide comfort and tranquility. Guest House was built as a country inn and offers beautiful and comfortable accommodations while maintaining the atmosphere of a retreat center for you to enjoy.

Most of the spacious bedrooms has one queen bed and one twin bed in them. Each guest bedroom has its own full bathroom. A few bedrooms may be furnished with one king or queen size bed. Every room has its own thermostat where you can control your own heating or air conditioning.

In each bedroom you will find comfortable beds with linens, a set of towels, a clock, bar soaps, and disposable cups. Extra blankets and pillows are available in each bedroom closet. There are no televisions or telephones in guest bedrooms. Hair dryers, heaters, fans, irons, and ironing boards are available in the guest amenities closet located to the right of the elevator on the first floor. There are some cabinets near the front desk where you may purchase toiletry items, bottled water, candy, snacks, journals, water bottles, coffee mugs and gift items. Payment can be made with cash or credit card.

Also, Guest House is a smoke-free facility. However, if you do smoke, they do have an outdoor smoking area with receptacles for cigarettes. Smokers will be directed to this area when they ask at the front desk.

Differently-Abled Folx

Guest House is wheelchair accessible, and the dining room and one of the meeting rooms is located on the first floor. There is elevator service to other residential floors. There is also several bathrooms with wheelchair-accessible toilets and safety pull bars in the bathtub.

THINGS FOR YOU TO DO AT THE RETREAT - WELLNESS ACTIVITIES . . .

 

The Guest House is situated on 17 wooded acres. Their tree-shaded, three-tiered deck overlooks a pond for relaxing. There is also a tennis court. Surrounding the area are woods adjacent to the State Forest offering hiking. Also on the property is a walking meditation Labyrinth, easily accessed from the back lawn area. Cedar Lake, a beautiful lake with a beach, is two miles from Guest House that you can enjoy during free time, and a half mile beyond is the Cockaponset State Park with another lovely lake with picnic areas and hiking. If you bring your bicycle, the area’s paved roads offer miles of lightly trafficked, scenic biking. Offered is insect repellant at the front desk for those guests who desire to engage in outdoor activities.


To additionally support your experience while at the retreat center you can enjoy:

  • Morning Stretch Classes: Start your morning with a refreshing stretch session, guided by one of our facilitators.
  • Meditative prayer stations: Participate in a self-guided meditative prayer stations, learning the art of making Indigenous prayer ties to ground yourself with inner peace and clarity.
  • Creatively Play: Engage in the creative activity of coloring and crafting to express yourself and tap into fun and into your creativity. Board Games will also be available. Feel free to bring your own favorite game.

 

 

 

Dining Options . . .

What Can You Expect At Meal Times?

  • Food is nurturing, food is healing. Nutrition is an important part of your retreat experience and The Guest House is extremely accomodating. They serve a variety of healthy, delicious meals made from fresh, local ingredients. The kitchen will make every effort to meet the food needs of any guest who a special dietary request, ensuring that everyone can enjoy nourishing food that supports their well-being. Meals are served buffet style by the Guest House staff. Hot tea and coffee as well as cold beverages: water, tea and lemonade are available all day in the dining room.

  • For those who need it, a refrigerator and microwave are available in our Sunroom (near to the dining room) for guest use 24 hours a day if you need to bring special food items or medicines

  • Prior to the retreat the Sanctuary For Her Soul team will send you a dining preferences form that you can fill out if you have special request so that we can let the kitchen know prior to your arrival.

TRAVELING? HERE IS SOME INFORMATION FOR YOU . . .

You should plan to arrive no later than 3:00 pm on the first day and our last session will end no later than 2:00 pm on Sunday.  

  • Traveling by TRAIN - The Old Saybrook train station is 20 minutes from Guest House. You can take the Metro North train from Grand Central station in New York city to New Haven, and switch trains by taking a Shore Line East train which stops in Old Saybrook. Amtrak train service travels from Boston, MA to Virginia Beach, VA, and stops at the nearby Old Saybrook train station.

  • Taxi car services are available from the Old Saybrook train station to Guest House. For service from the train station, you can contact Essex Taxi 860-767-7433, or Nick’s Taxi 203-273-5034. Or you could also try UBER or LYFT from your cell phone to make a reservation.

  • Traveling by AIR - The nearest airport is Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks (Hartford). There are a couple of car service companies our guests have used, as well as UBER or LYFT:
